It gives me pleasure to introduce a new song I have written. The song entitled ‘Rookhope Hush’ is aimed at commemorating the rich and often brutal mineral mining heritage of County Durham. So much is recorded and sung about our proud history and culture of Coal mining, however, there is not so much concerning the long-standing culture of mineral and particularly lead mining. This song is of course fictional but is inspired by the still visible scars of mining around Rookhope in upper Weardale. Hope you enjoy it.
